FPAN took the lead in legalising abortion but legalizing abortion alone is not enough; media frequently reports incidences of women dying of unsafe and incomplete abortion and women dying of abortion performed even in health facilities. Nepal's rural women face major health risks. Women desperate to terminate a pregnancy which they probably didn't want in the first place end up losing their life. Deaths of women from unsafe abortion can be prevented. FPAN is working to make women combat this problem.
