60th Anniversary of FPAN

Family Planning Association of Nepal (FPAN), celebrated its historical day by hosting a special celebration to marks its 60th anniversary on 26th September, 2018. The celebration kicked off amongst FPAN‘s central committee members, staff, youth, IPPF representative and senior health journalist to mark the event.

FPAN declared 2018-2019 as a “Resources Mobilization Year”, on the occasion aiming to create sufficient resources to make FPAN self-sustained.


The Ad-hoc Committee President, Mr. Chhatra Bahadur Giri launched the advocacy tools and new logo of 60th year which FPAN will brand throughout the 60th anniversary. The tools includes information such as FPAN's historical background, key achievements of 60 years of journey, network and facilities, services package, pioneering efforts in advocacy, partnering donors, services coverage, its national contribution, commitments and the way forward.



FPAN Director General, Mr. KP Bista informed that all authorized populace of FPAN at center, province, district and local levels wil

engage in resources mobilization exercises throughout the year for that the advocacy tools shall be supportive documents. He stressed that FPAN is the leader and pioneer in SRHR with 60th years of journey in Nepal. He stated that family planning in Nepal is synonyms to “Family Planning Association of Nepal” and is the only organization in a country to construct tangible map in family planning.





Similarly, during the program FPAN staff, members, volunteers, IPPF representative, senior health journalist, youth students took photo on I Decide frame that displayed the message I DECIDE “What happen to my body”. Amidst the photograph session, youth volunteers had a brief orientation about I Decide campaign and the situation of safe abortion in Nepal.

26 September is likewise a national Safe abortion day. So, FPAN’S youth members performed street drama on safe abortion. The intension of the drama was to create awareness on legal aspect of safe abortion where about 59 % of women in Nepal are still not aware on legalization of abortion.
