Course Syllabus

This 8 Days clinical training course is designed to prepare the participants to help clients make an informed choice according to their reproductive health need by providing client need based counseling and to provide comprehensive family planning services.

Selection of participants

In each batch there will be 12-16 participants with health background such as HA, Staff Nurse, PHN, family planning supervisor of paramedical background, AHW, ANM and community medical Assistant. The facility should have an anticipated caseload sufficient to support the provision of Family Planning services. Preference should be given to those staff working in family planning clinics, PHC and Health Post.

 

Training Objectives 

  • Provide participants with the knowledge of existing status of family planning in Nepal.
  • Provide participants with the knowledge of communication and behavior change communication.
  • Provide participants with communication skills for counseling.
  • Provide participants with un-biased, client focused counseling skills to assist client in making informed choice.
  • Provide participants with knowledge and skill of effective and safe infection prevention practices.
  • Provide participants with the knowledge and skill needed to provide counseling on comprehensive family planning and provide temporary methods such as pills, emergency contraceptives, condoms, standard day’s method and administration of DMPA.
  • Provide participants with knowledge and skills needed to manage side effects and health problems related to use temporary method usage.
  • Provide participants with standardized up to date information on family planning.
  • Provide participants with basic family planning service management knowledge and recording and reporting.
  • Provide participants knowledge of family planning needed in adolescent period and provide counseling skills.
  • Provide participants with the knowledge on the importance of family planning for safe motherhood and neonatal healthy and provide counseling to potential clients.
  • Provide participants with the knowledge on screening of STIs, HIV/AIDS and provide counseling for appropriate family planning methods suitable for them.
  • Provide participants with the knowledge on appropriate family planning methods suitable to client with special needs.
  • Provide participants with knowledge on DMT and MEC wheel.
